For this specific poster the assignment was to create a typographic poster with no pictures included, just words informing people of a cause or a march that would be going on around campus. The requirements were that there should be no type of imagery only text should be showcased within this project, as well as for the theme it was requested to be abstract and fun, so I was excited for this where I felt as if I really had free reign. The cause of the march was for the organization Women, Life, Freedom so with them theme of abstract art I did want to do a gradient, that was immediately the first thing that came to mind. I played around with color combinations like blues and purples or yellows and greens, but I did infact want to stick with something softer as well as something that is easily identified as being associated with a girl so for the background of the page, I used a purple and pink gradient. I made sure to throw some shapes for an added effect of dimension and creativity. For the font, I had the idea of doing different fonts for each word. I thought of this idea because each word does represent something different within the movement although they are all as equally important, yet I wanted the impact of creative expression through the words to be felt differently than by just having once consistent font.
For the creation of this mockup, I wanted to stick with the idea of soft colors, but I wanted to ad to look like it was coming from mobile source, which now a days is majority of society’s main go to for news and information. I thought this mockup went along perfectly with the theme of the promotional.
For this specific project, I actually made the original piece on Photoshop originally. My original thought for this project was thinking about a project from the artists perspective. A lot of times I feel as if when a client requests a project from a certain artist or designer, they have a specific idea of their own that sometimes cannot be executed to the fullest extent or up to their specific vision. Yet I have experienced, and I know a lot of other artists have experienced the client getting mad or upset at the fact that their idea can’t be completed or won’t look that good. Therefore, the artist makes a first draft trying to accommodate with the client making their first draft and it doesn’t come out the clients liking. They sometimes mad, they sometimes are disappointed with the outcome of the vision (all things that the artist warned the client about) and they want the design redone. Which is sometimes frustrating for this artist because this is something that they had told the client about previously, so they start over and come up with more ideas and mockups. After this first round about with the artist the client often gives the artist a little more free reign when it comes to creating
Creating this magazine layout was honestly fun and inspiring to say the least. With this project, we took a dive into the works of InDesign and, magazine layouts and setups. With this project, we had a lot more control and free reign of the design and of what/ who we were writing about. Once again, I stuck with the concept of fashion (this time tsking ion the road of high-end fashion) I decided to go with the idea of reviewing and creating a layout for Paris Fashion Week. We were tasked to make three different designs, my favorite design is actually a two-page spread where I took a picture of a runway and made it into an overlay to pretty much make it look like the runway was going through the page and went with the theme of modeling and fashion week, right from the beginning you knew or at least had an idea as to what the article is about. For this layout specifically, this is another one of my favorites and it is also a two-page spread, yet the first page listed is the page with the most imagery and dimensions. For this particular spread, I was so interested within a particular dress that was spray on to Gigi Hadid’s body during the show, therefor I wanted to showcase the world-renowned model Gigi as well as showing off the process of the spray on dress. For me the goal was to create a page stopper for the reader, they see the large imagery of the spray on dress and are immediately intrigued or pulled into with what the artist has to say within their piece.
